<title>Naperville, IL: Pastor of Adult and Small Group Ministries at Evangelical Free Chuch of Naperville</title>
  <description>OVERVIEW
Evangelical Free Church of Naperville (www.efcn.org) is a growing, large church of over 2,500 attendees located in the western suburbs of Chicago. Senior Pastor Dale Hummel describes EFCN as “a community of Jesus followers who are on a journey of transformation.” He explains this journey through this vision statement, “We are experiencing life:
- Through authentic worship that brings us into God’s presence
- By close community in smaller Life Groups
- Through dynamic interactive programs
- By a compassionate recovery ministry
- Through relevant and practical messages from God’s Word.”

The city and the church are above average in education, income and culture. The population is primarily white-collar with a 90% Caucasian ethos. The city is centered on families raising children. Naperville is surrounded by excellent quality of life amenities and has been ranked by Money magazine as “the second best place to live in the United States.” Naperville is also reflective of the surrounding context of evangelical culture. Moody Bible Institute, Wheaton College and Trinity Seminary are educational examples of this strong Biblical heritage.

As a vision-driven church, EFCN is seeking to become an “epi-center for life transformation.” They have a goal of starting several multi-site campuses as part of their plan for multiplication. Along with the additional campuses, four additional themes have emerged as primary to the future ministry at EFCN. These are: the establishment of a Performing Arts Ministry, a Family and Children’s center, Equip University (which is a training initiative to help individuals go deeper in their faith), and an emphasis on Global Missions.

OPPORTUNITY
EFCN is looking for an experienced ministry leader with a passion and understanding to continue to build a strong small group ministry. With over 70 small groups in the church a man is needed to develop a coaching infrastructure which will continue to develop healthy group leaders. By being part of the senior leadership team, this Director will bring leadership to the whole while being the “champion” for small groups.

All the adult educational ministries at EFCN emphasize small group involvement. The Director will be the constant promoter, recruiter and encourager of small groups as the best way for personal spiritual growth. He will be attracting new leaders with a compelling vision for the multiplied impact that can expand the small group ministry. As a wider infrastructure is built and numbers continue to grow, the Director will celebrate the personal stories of individual life change. This environment of multiplication and celebration of small groups will be the contagious foundation that new people become a part of as they visit and join EFCN.

The Director of Adult and Small Group Ministries will manage the adult team so all of their ministries work together to create a discipleship process. While guiding the team and vision, he will also serve as the primary substitute in the pulpit for the senior pastor. This opportunity to regularly preach (both filling in on individual weeks and developing a short series from time to time) will be a passion of the Director and a platform to creatively compel adults to action and involvement while modeling the priorities of personal growth and life application. Evangelical Free Church of Naperville is a healthy and vibrant church that is looking forward to this new leader communicating and living out the priority on spiritual growth developed in community with other adults in small groups.

CANDIDATE CRITERIA
It is critical that the Director be experienced in how to lead and build a large small group ministry in a multi-staff environment. This person must also be a creative communicator who is effective with large audiences and in small settings. He will have strong interpersonal skills with people they have never met while also developing strong friendships. He will agree with the doctrinal beliefs of the church and their partnership with the Evangelical Free Church of America.

INQUIRY PROCESS
If you sense that you are the kind of leader described in this profile, we encourage you to submit your name for consideration. We will handle all candidate information confidentially and will only check references with your permission. In addition to sending your resume, please provide responses to the following questions.

1. Describe your faith-walk with Christ. Tell us how you entered a trusting relationship with Christ and how you are maintaining the vitality of this relationship now. Describe the expressions of ministry that you are currently involved with (in or outside of the church).
2. Why are you interested in serving with Evangelical Free Church of Naperville as Director of Adult and Small Group Ministries? Be specific about describing how your ministry calling and competencies align with this ministry opportunity profile.
3. Please outline the priorities of your small group ministry philosophy and your main goals in the first year serving with EFCN.
4. What are the important factors that lead you to consider this opportunity at this time?

In addition to providing these answers and your resume, please submit a recent photo of yourself or family, and a couple samples of your preaching. (CD’s or online recording are initially sufficient. A DVD will eventually be requested for final candidates to submit.) This information may be emailed or sent to the addresses below:

<title>Dallas, TX: Minister of Outreach at Northwest Bible Church</title>
  <description>OVERVIEW
When you go to the website for Northwest Bible Church (www.northwestbible.org) the church’s goal is clear – “Passionately Pursuing Jesus Christ.” When you visit the church and meet the leadership those words become reality. This church has a wonderful legacy of faithfulness in preaching the Word and reaching out around the world. There is also a tremendous sense of an exciting future for NBC in the immediate days ahead!

Strategically located in the northwest corner of the city of Dallas since 1951, there is vibrancy as 2500 men, women and children come to worship every Sunday. It is easy to notice many excellent ministries led by wonderful servants, but you will more importantly sense an enthusiasm which is expressed through their Mission statement:

Northwest Bible Church exists to equip people to
passionately pursue Jesus Christ to do whatever
He asks of us in this world. Northwest’s values
include being:
- Extremely devoted to God
- Vitally connected in community
- Fully invested in Christ’s Church
- Actively loving a lost and broken world
- Graciously focused on the Truth

There is a strong sense from the leadership and staff that this Mission statement must increasingly move off the brochures and banners and into the daily choices of their people. A healthy urgency is communicated to embody the truths of these words and express them through changed lives. This passion and purpose was expressed in a recent conversation with the senior pastor when he stated, “I cannot justify a reason for Northwest Bible Church to be here unless we are seeing people who we know coming into personal relationship with Jesus.” In a recent sermon series the congregation was challenged to “catch a vision for God to do something so big that only He can receive the credit for accomplishing such incredible things!”

OPPORTUNITY
The Minister of Outreach will have the opportunity to lead in expressing the local and global commitment of Northwest Bible Church to “actively love a lost and broken world.” Exemplifying the passion and commitment for sharing with those who do not know Christ, this person will effectively utilize all the resources and direct them into an integrated and unified plan for local and global outreach.

The successful candidate for this position will already have an exemplary record of building partnerships with organizations to further expand the work of Christ in their surrounding communities and around the world. This person is an excellent team builder who models a servant’s heart. The Minister of Outreach is a creative communicator who can rally the whole congregation while also personally networking with individuals. The ability to cast a compelling vision while administrating effective follow-through will be an important part of this person’s work experience.

The ideal candidate needs to be sensitive to and able to lead into partnerships with a wide diversity of volunteers, missionaries and supporters from different cultures both within and outside the United States. Cross cultural experience, while modeling a compelling passion for reaching “people in need,” will be an evident part of the Minister of Outreach’s background. International and/or domestic experience that demonstrates the ability to “believe God for big goals,” no matter what the obstacles or challenges, is a fitting description of how this person lives their life.

APPLICATION PROCESS
We look forward to speaking with qualified individuals who are interested in exploring this opportunity. Throughout the process we fully respect the need for confidentiality of information supplied by potential candidates and want to assure you that your interest will not be discussed with anyone without prior consent, nor will references be contacted until mutual interest has been established and approval given by the candidate.

In order for us to get to know you better, please provide a comprehensive resume. When writing the resume, substance is of more interest than brevity. Give enough information so that the breadth of your ministry experience is understood.

When describing your work as a church staff member it would be helpful to know the total membership of the church, the size of the staff, your direct reports, etc.

If you have not served on a church staff, be very specific about your involvement and experience in a local church. While humility is appreciated, it is important for us to know the breadth and depth of your involvement and how God has used you in the life of the local church.

As we progress through our careers, most of us have changed jobs and/or employers a few times. For each job change, be sure to include why you moved from that position to your next.

QUESTIONS
Over the years, we have found that one can learn only so much from the resume. In order to help us receive a more complete picture of you and your interest in Northwest Bible Church, provide us with succinct responses to the following questions:

1. Describe your faith in Christ. Tell us how you came to know the Lord and your journey with Him. Be specific about how you daily experience and express the realness of God as you learn and grow in Him.

2. Explain your philosophy of outreach (integrating personal, local and global expressions) and how a culture of outreach can most effectively be expressed through a large local church body like Northwest Bible.

3. Describe a couple specific examples of ministry goals you envisioned and the results that were especially rewarding to you. Share the process you created that made the goal achievable.

4. What are the five key things that most qualify you for this position?

Please also provide at least five references (including two previous supervisors, two subordinates and a peer). Include phone and email information for each person. We will not contact your references until later in the process and only after you have approved.

Submit these responses (in Word or PDF format) along with your resume to:

We desire someone who is able to oversee our core disciplemaking environments (which include adult discipleship communities and a strategic discipleship training process), to direct the movement of people through the discipleship process, to coach key leaders to build ministry teams, to equip and assist believers in their personal evangelism, and to cast vision for and model mature discipleship.

The successful candidate will have experience in vocational ministry, preferably on a church staff. He will have a college degree, although we prefer a graduate of Bible college or seminary. He will ideally possess spiritual gifts of leadership and / or evangelism, although other gift mixes are acceptable. He must have experience in personal evangelism and in leadership development, with strong preference given to those who have also built and equipped teams and managed assimilation processes. He must have the ability to cast vision effectively from the pulpit. The candidate we hope to hire must be a team player, faithful and teachable, with a consistent walk with Christ. Organizational and time-management skills, along with good oral and written communications, are highly desirable. Compatibility with the beliefs and values of Wasatch Church will be assessed using a detailed questionnaire. The compensation package will be regionally competitive, based on experience and qualifications.

To begin the application process, please fill out the initial application at our web site: http://www.wasatchchurch.org/. On the top menu, go to &quot;Forms&quot; and select &quot;Application.&quot; Additionally, please send your resume to Lynda Lee.
