  <description>Position:	Support person/friend for individual with cognitive delay special needs
Work Hours:		Monday 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
				Saturday Noon – 3 p.m.
				(Flexibility with time off during Denver Seminary 					spring/winter break and occasional days off when needed.  Hours have the potential of increasing if 	wanted, beginning second semester, 2009 as well as changing in order to fit the Seminary student’s schedules as they change from semester to semester.)

Parents of a great 24 year old young adult male with cognitive delay special needs looking for individual who has a sense of humor, is responsible, organized, relational in their communication skills, and calm to spend time (friend, not caretaker) with our son doing educational and extracurricular activities.  We prefer 1st year students or students that will have at least two years left at the Seminary (spouses welcome to apply as well).  All facilitators hired to support our son are student’s from the Denver Seminary.

Our son loves doing activities such as:  running track, bicycle riding, athletic events, riding the Light Rail, all types of music, being with his friends, attending concerts, going on hikes, attending reading and speech lessons.  He takes guitar and keyboard lessons, along with karate and horseback riding; works at Jason’s Deli and has a GREAT sense of humor.  Support person would support in the areas of appropriate social skills; life skills such as healthy meal choices; independence in daily routine; leisure skills; safety skills in community and at home; transportation to occasional activities and participation in activities such as bowling, tennis and utilizing of apartment exercise equipment.  Educational training and support will be provided to individual who fills this position.  Individual becomes part of an extended team of other professionals:  Reading therapist, Speech therapist, Sensory Integration therapist, along with other facilitators who are Denver Seminary students.

  <title>Denver Colorado: Companion/Caregiver at Individual</title>
  <description>Live-in care for my 82-year old father.  Am looking for a couple or 2 single men for 24 hr, 7 days a week.  My father is able to move around by himself, but is a high-risk of falling (he uses a walker).  Help includes ensuring my Dad's comfort, cleaning, laundry, making sure medicines are taken, getting him up in the morning, dressing, exercise, cooking (or fixing prepared meals), and talking with my father.  My sister and I (with our families) live in Denver and visit many times each week to help.  </description>

  <title>Denver, CO: Hospice at The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA)</title>
  <description>The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), the non-profit provider of home care, hospice and wellness services throughout Colorado, is looking for individuals interested in becoming a volunteer with VNA's Hospice at Home program. 

Hospice at Home volunteers join a team of doctors, nurses, home health aids, chaplains, social workers and other volunteers to ensure that every patient and their family receives much needed care and support.

Hospice volunteers help in a variety of ways, such as providing support to patients, respite for family members, child care assistance, bereavement support, and fundraising and administrative work. Every hospice volunteers receives specialized training and ongoing support.
