Senior Pastor at Green Bay Community Church

Description:

To answer a key question first: No, the next senior pastor of Green Bay Community Church does not have to be a Packers fan. However, it probably would not hurt to at least be a supportive observer! The memories that continue to come from Lambeau Field are an important part of community life in this city. However, just a few miles to the northwest, 1600+ followers of Jesus Christ gather on Saturday night and in two Sunday services with a passion to daily live out their faith in this community of 150,000 people. Their next Senior Pastor will be a leader who openly models an authentic walk with God and lives with a passion to reach this community.., whether or not they bleed green and gold!

The Green Bay area offers four-seasons living to any outdoor enthusiasts, while also enjoying the amenities of mid-size city life. There is a long-time Catholic and Lutheran influence throughout the region. For over forty years the history of the area has included many stories of how Gods grace, shared through the ministries and people of this church, has been life-changing. Yet as you visit and meet the people who are part of Green Bay Community Church, there is a vision of even greater outreach and impact for the future.

They already have many first-generation believers from very diverse spiritual (and nonspiritual) backgrounds. The church desires the next senior pastor to continue to build on GBCCs commitment to people from all walks of life who are seeking answers to lifes many challenges.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Green Bay Community Church began in 1967 as a non-denominational church plant. They are known for reaching into the community in relevant ways to touch every day lives with the love of God. Their church strives to constantly reflect their values - namely the Three Rs:
Revelation - Christianity is a revealed faith, based in revelation, which is Gods recorded Word. The Bible is the authority upon which all life should be based.
Relevancy - it is vital that the message be communicated through means and methods that connect with the culture of the day.
Relationships - relationships have a deep impact upon and change people. The Bible, communicated in a straightforward, practical way, will result in shaping positive relationships with all people.

The church has a wonderful facility that was all built in the last eleven years. Phase I(1997) consisted of 45,000 square feet that included the 14,000 sq. ft. auditorium/gym, large glassed-in foyer, with the office space and classrooms needed to support the growth. In 2001 they added more educational space with a Youth Center, rehearsal room and Chapel, bringing the total square feet to over 100,000. The Master Plan still anticipates adding a worship area with theater-style seating when needed. The space reflects the heart of the church with its attractive functionality to allow for diverse ministries (e.g. dinner theatre, Family Tree House between Sunday services, area-wide seminars, etc) and relationship-building in the spacious hallways and foyers. For over twenty years Joe Urcavich has served faithfully in leading Green Bay Community Church. He has been working with the elders to proactively create a succession plan that hands-off the church to the next senior pastor who God is calling. Joes life and ministry embodies a God-honoring transparency that emphasizes the relevancy of Christ in every-day life. His sermons punctuate this reality by being vulnerable and real in applying the Bible. To encourage the smoothest possible transition the church has enlisted the services of Russ Crabtree, co-author of The Elephant in the Boardroom, who is an expert on pastoral succession. Under his guidance the church has completed a survey to measure the health of the church. The results of this document are available in a Vital Signs document that gives a thorough overview to potential candidates. It is a written review that points to the specific opportunities and challenges faced by a church that has much to celebrate while focusing on continued excellence!
