Description:
The Pastor of Student Ministries is responsible to serve the Body of Jesus Christ at Fellowship Bible Church (FBC) by cultivating spiritual growth and maturity through the development and implementation of student ministries and activities. He shall also function in other defined aspects of the congregations life and ministries as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Senior Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Spiritual:
1. Is a born-again believer through faith in Jesus Christ, having made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ and has evidence of Gods call to student ministry.
2. Lives consistently with and in commitment to the requirements of an Elder as set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
3. Demonstrates a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, is a person of prayer and the Word, and is a model of a Biblical pattern of life and leadership; possesses a heart for youth; demonstrates a love for God and His people.
4. Shows evidence of control by the Holy Spirit in all aspects of personal life and in the ministry of FBC.
Professional:
1. Possesses strong servant-leadership, relational, teaching, discipleship, and administrative skills.
2. Is in full agreement with the Doctrinal Statement of FBC; supporting the Constitution and Bylaws of FBC, evidencing commitment to the church's stated purpose.
3. Bible School (or equivalent) training, having earned a Bachelors Degree in Youth Ministries (or equivalent) from an accredited school;
4. Experience in youth ministry, ministry design and implementation desired.
Personal:
1. Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
2. Is well-ordered and disciplined in his spiritual, personal and family life, maintaining a fresh and vital personal prayer and devotional life as the basis for ministry; sustain active prayer for and care of people.
3. Exhibits warmth, friendliness, empathy and sincerity; possessing an outgoing and friendly nature.
4. Is committed to local outreach, national and international missions.
RELATIONSHIPS
The Pastor of Student Ministries is directly accountable to the Sr. Pastor and will work closely with him in establishing, implementing, and promoting Student Ministries. He will work in a loyal and accountable manner and in full cooperation with the Senior Pastor in the formation and execution of his various duties and ministries. His responsibility to the Elder Board will be through the Senior Pastor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pastor of Student Ministries is primarily responsible for the ministry to youth at FBC by planning, developing, implementing, and nurturing spiritually-based relationships ad programmatic ministries for youth. The range of responsibilities of this position though they should not be seen as exclusive:
1. Encourage the introduction to, and assimilation of youth into the life of the congregation as active participants of the church family (including conversion, baptism, discipleship, membership, ministry involvement, youth leadership development, etc.).
2. Develop multi-level ministries that address the spiritual needs of non-Christians, casual Christians and deeply committed Christians in each area of Student Ministries.
3. Build spiritually-based relationships with students so that they will be encouraged and challenged to grow spiritually and personally; ensure the Biblical content and spiritual focus of the Student Ministries and strive for
excellence in each area of ministry.
4. Provide pastoral care, including counseling for youth and their family and friends as needed.
5. Serve as the primary teacher for all facets of Student Ministries; delegating this responsibility as appropriate and necessary.
6. Facilitate effective communication between the youth, parents, and the FBC family.
7. Recruit, train, equip, and encourage youth in their involvement and/or leadership within the various areas of Student Ministries.
8. Recruit, train, equip, and encourage adult sponsors and/or ministry leaders to serve in various areas of Student Ministries.
9. Develop and implement an on-going evaluation process for the effectiveness of the Student Ministries.
10.Develop and maintain competence in current youth needs and program strategies.
11. Submit an annual plan of proposed ministries and budgetary requirements
to the Deacon Board;
12. Work together with pastoral staff and other ministry leaders and volunteers, providing mutual support toward the harmonious functioning of all the ministries to the glory of God.
13.Other responsibilities: Aside from the specific responsibilities for Youth, the Student Ministries Pastor shall serve in other areas of the life and ministry of FBC as assigned by the Senior Pastor, including but not limited to filling the pulpit during the Sr. Pastors absence.
PURPOSE AND VISION
The Pastor of Student Ministries is responsible for the vision and direction of Student Ministries in collaboration with Student Ministries Sponsor Team and student leaders. Ministry vision, direction, plans, and expectations will be regularly communicated to the Elder Board through the Senior Pastor. He shall align the purpose and vision of the Student Ministries with the overall purpose and vision of FBC.
