Critical Incident Stress Managament (CISM) Workshop
Friday, August 15, 2008 - Saturday, August 16, 2008
Location: Denver Seminary, 6399 S Santa Fe Dr Littleton, CO US 80120

Crisis intervention is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialized training. It is not psychotherapy. As physical first-aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called "emotional first-aid." Crisis interventions are typically done individually (one-on-one) or in groups. This program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of, and a specific protocol for, individual intervention.
The audience for this class includes chaplains, clergy, laity, emergency services, law enforcement, military, and business/industrial peer support personnel without formal training in mental health, as well as mental health professionals, who desire to increase their knowledge of individual (one-on-one) crisis intervention techniques.
The cost for all Denver Seminary students and CISM team members is $100, a discounted rate, and may even receive a $20 rebate based on the number of paid registration by July 22. Students who completed CO 657 with Dr. Paget are especially encouraged to complete this course. (13 Contact Hours)
