Incarnating Core Values

Authenticity requires seeing me
.

In ministry challenges, how long do we have to work on what is NOT the problem before we get the problem solved? Forever!!! We must see the problem to solve it.

Sometimes the problem is us.  Our teaching is right, but our example is wrong. When my children were young they had a fight, shouting, “You’re supposed to share with me!”

True. But their example was wrong. Paul said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1). Sharing must be lived rather than demanded.

Leaders must “incarnate core values,” according to the Leadership Paradigm which guides our Doctor of Ministry program. We must model what we want to elicit.

  • If we want people to listen, we must listen.
  • If we want people to serve, we must serve.
  • If we want them to be open and authentic, we must be.
  • If we want them to tell the truth, so must we.

We must incarnate core values. Come, and learn to be Real!

Five areas of study develop authenticity:

  • Leadership in Global Urban Ministry (New!)
  • Leadership in Community Spiritual Formation
  • Church and Parachurch Executive Leadership
  • Leadership in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry
  • Marriage and Family Counseling
